Philosophy on Nias Tuberiding

I have been to Lagundri and Hinakos a number of times, and shared sessions with Phil. He’s an inspiring surfer who has put together some impressive footage of his sessions. The footage inspires me to return to Indo to hunt perfection. Thanks Phil. Enjoy:

    Cliff,
So when are we going to nias? I’m in!
    Smell

Hunting eh. We do like to hunt perfection don’t we. I’m at my happiest hunting .. the occasional win feeding reward hunger. Man would run for days until the beast tired of our relentless humaniod pace and give itself up to the spear. Kills were few but the rewards great. Some even enjoy the competition of a black rubber-suited fly-blown line up in a city beach. The embayment an arena for the combatants. Were the girls of 70s Cronulla gathering chiko rolls, pies and strawberry milk while their menfolk hunted waves ? Just how far have we come ? There are certainly not enough women hunting waves to lower the testosterone fog at Bondi for my liking. EVOLVE

    hey tom

your buy into primitive/civilised semantics is bottom shelf. the respectful play of life accords give and receive (including intensity) its about respect, respect the ancients. evolve pffft. hunting-gathering has a lot going for it in comparison to agri-business and franken-foods. if you prefer your metaphors to really materialise. 70s cronulla girls are not a unified category or an area you should stray into even for a lame example. damned testosterone fog must be getting to you

  4. Thomas Williams says:

aah but you have fallen into the trap of thinking that evolution is always towards a mythological higher order of being. The cosmos doesn’t give a damn if we evolve away from higher states of harmony. Don’s cinfuse religion with science
