From over at Bec’s place:

Ages ago, a friend described a photo to me that she had seen somewhere, sometime. She said it was of a Hawi’ian woman dropping her board through the air, with her arms spread wide, in front of a wave that was big and white and pitching over, and you couldn’t be sure if she’d make it or not. It sounded awesome, so imagine my delight to find it on the cover of a magazine at the bargain, second-hand price of $4*!
The image is of Desiree DeSoto and is from 1997/98 and I l.o.v.e. it. She has the BIGGEST smile on her face.
Stoked!

this never gets old. i am happily exposing my big, tea-stained teeth to the computer screen right now!
I KNOW! I think about this picture a lot.
I’ve stuck it on my bookcase at work so when I turn around it in right in front of me.
Wow! I always tell my students to google themselves every once in awhile to see what information others may be seeing and forming an impression about. Imagine my surprise when I misspelt my name and found more information on myself than when I spell my name the way my mother intended
Either way I have to share that I made that wave and credit to Ron Brazil for capturing a weekly winter experience in my world.
Much Mahalos for the memories!
Desire’ DeSoto
So sorry for the misspelling, Desire’.
I STILL have this photo sitting up on my bookcase, and it STILL gets me stoked Even more so now I know you made it – So great!
